One of the hardest things for customers to visualize is their beloved inlay piece working in their home. As a stylist, we have an idea in our mind on how we want the piece to work and what would work best given the space - taking into account existing pieces of furniture or homewares that can be used, and what we need to add in.
Creating mood boards, as per the examples below, gives us reassurance and a visual tool that what we have envisioned in our mind will work when we bring the vision to life. It allows us to play around with different options and ideas so that we know we are achieving the best result we can for the customer. It also saves time and rework when we know the selection will work visually. It's also a lot of fun playing around with different options - especially when working with such striking, timeless bone inlay or mother of pearl pieces!

A new service we offer at Mahlia, and one that has been on the cards for a very long time, is the offering of a complimentary styling service to our customers. Initially we ask you for inspirational images, photos of your space, videos of your space and any other aesthetic information you can provide to ensure we really understand who you are, who is living in the space and how you intend to use the area.

Once we have discussed your needs and what you are hoping to achieve, we can provide mood boards and other inspirational images to you so you can share our vision. This will give reassurance to you that the piece you are thinking about will work, and it gives you ideas on what to pair their selection with to ensure it looks the best that it can in your space.
When creating concepts, I usually start with the piece of bone inlay I am working with and build the plan around that. For example, in the below nursery mood board I started with the Pink Abstract Bone Inlay Side Table and created a cute and considered room for our customer based on her ideas, needs and using some of her existing items.
